Advanced Yoga Training

Once you’ve completed 200 Hr certified yoga teacher training, you may wish to progress to our advanced Yoga training, also conducted at our two locations on the islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. You’ve built a strong teaching foundation, and now it’s time to move to the next level.

Advanced Yoga training consists of 300 hours. You’ll find that the pace is a little more relaxed than it was in your 200 hour teacher training course. You won’t feel rushed, but you’ll still be very stimulated and challenged. Emphasis will be on creativity, and improving your personal practice. You’ll still be working within a structure and on a schedule, but the approach will be more collaborative and self-directed.

The following is an outline of our advanced Yoga training.

Asana

Your instructor will guide you in developing and deepening your personal practice. The approach will be non-competitive but challenging. You’ll deal with specific themes like back bending, hip opening, inversion sequences and arm balancing as they relate to your practice. For teaching practicums, you’ll build on your beginner series with an intermediate series that will be used as your teaching platform.

Physiology and Ayurveda

This will be a continuation of the topics that you covered in your 200-hour teacher training. You’ll further explore your chakra knowledge, along with chakra balancing, the Pranic body, and more.

Teacher Workshops

You’ll deal with areas that are specific to your special interests, including:

  • Yogic diet (Pitta, Kapha and Vata)
  • Arthritis
  • Depression
  • Menopause
  • Andropause
  • Smoking cessation
  • Substance abuse
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • And much more

You will develop a research project, and your final assessment will be based on that project. There will also be standard classes in alignment and adjusting, along with other subjects.

Anatomy

You’ll learn more about anatomy, specifically as it relates to Yoga teachers. Topics will include:

  • Foundations
  • Tensegrity
  • Body web
  • Knee mechanics
  • Ribcage and breathing
  • Hips
  • Spinal mechanics
  • Emotional anatomy
  • And more

Daily Meditation, Chanting and Pranayama

This is the same routine that you began your 200-hour teacher training with, but in the advanced Yoga training course, it will be more advanced. To begin with your teacher will lead you, and as the course progresses, students will lead experiential/exploration meditation practices. You’ll also learn more about how to integrate meditation in the treatment of depression.

Pranayama and Kryias

Advanced techniques will be taught theoretically and from an Ayurvedic perspective, with emphasis on regular practice of Jala and Sutra neti.

Yoga Business

As a modern Yogi, you need to know how to run your business in a way that’s not only beneficial to your students, but profitable for you. We’ll go beyond the brief overview you received in your 200-hour teacher training, and cover areas like:

  • Web design
  • Advertising
  • Promotional materials (business cards, flyers, etc.)
  • Creating a sustainable business

Classroom Management and Teaching Methods

We’ll talk about common issues and problems with teaching, discuss troubleshooting techniques, and help you become a more effective speaker.

Philosophy

We’ll talk in greater depth about the 8 Limbs of Ashtanga, and Raja Yoga and Yoga Sutras.

Sequencing

We’ll cover sequencing exercises that are designed to connect you in a practical way to the needs of your students.
